Saints are on the clock for their free agent pick. Followed by the Raiders and Giants, then it's a wrap.

Also, Chiefs/Jags look to be playing at 7pm EST, still not 100% sure on Raiders/Broncos but sometime tonight. Not a bad idea to start planning your Week 8 games for Tues, Wed, Thurs. As soon as I know when the Raiders/Broncos will be playing I'll update in here so people can possibly plan to play game late tonight too.
 
ok... so the word on the street is now that the Ravens have Housh... Mark Clayton is either about to be traded or released... will my week 9 roster reflect this sudden developement?

I don't believe we ever honor real NFL trades once our season starts. If we did, I would have Patrick Crayton now and be on the verge of losing Vincent Jackson. And Big Ben would just be coming off his suspension..

So no Housh for you, sorry. :D

It doesn't matter. When we started the league, Housh was still on the Seahawks, they didn't release him until 2 days ago. So in our league he's on the Seahawks, not in the FA pool.

Westbrook was on the FA wire when we started, which is why the 49ers got him.

I'm not sure what you want to happen.. Unless you think our Seahawks should HAVE to drop Housh just because the real Seahawks did.
 
BV is right. If Housh was in our free agent pool then I would say yes, but he started on someone's team so he stays there unless they want to deal him or for some reason cut him.

What do you think of adding a trading block section to the front page of this thread? I think it would be cool if we had a centralized place to see which players are being actively shopped.

Agreed and with that said I am in search of a QB like yesterday, I was looking at Big Ben and Manning , but they may end up costing me more than I am willing to lose, and a deal for Jimmy Clausen has falling through. Can anyone help me ?
 
Raiders roll 45-21 thanks to 3 big interceptions by the defense, 2 of which were by Michael Huff alone. McFadden added 91 yards and 2 TD's on 15 attempts.

Also of note, after being sacked only 1 time in the first 7 games, Campbell was sacked 2 times on the day. (Both were cringe worthy)

I'm a little concerned about the last game Jags/Chiefs. I've been told that with about 2 minutes left in the game with the score tied the Jags went for it on 4th and goal on the 3. I can't think of a reason where this would happen in real life so please feel free to explain it. This is unacceptable.

Really? Why would any coach risk the chance of not coming away with any points when they can kick it in easily for 3? It was a tie game.

Neither am I.

Looking at the box score, the Chiefs hadn't had to punt all game, it looks like the only time they'd not scored on a drive was on a pick. So if the Jags didn't have confidence that they could stop the Chiefs from scoring, I could see why they would go for it. Either give yourself a TD lead or force the Chiefs to drive 97 yards.

Not what I would have done, and hardly the conventional move, but not completely ridiculous I don't think. High risk / high reward, that's all.

agreed but hey I still woulda tried the three unless I missed one earlier in the game or blew a kickoff or something due to the lag.
 
I don't even think you need the kick meter lag to justify it (and that's a lame excuse anyway)

Not the same situation, but still a completely unorthodox call which most NFL coaches wouldn't do.

Ubernes - Isn't your one loss from going for 2 and failing on the tying TD rather than taking the sure XP for a tie? ;)

I don't see how this is any different.
 
Kick meter lag excuse is getting old. It's only a problem what 1 every 4, 5 games? And you can tell well before 2 mins left in the game if it's an issue.

Bucs just went for it on 4th and 10 with about a minute left in the half. Tie game. I think at the 50 or around there. Obviously there's a problem here.
