Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

I hope this month the closest sears to me activates there portable drops. I thought they activated automatically, but I guess they don't or it glitched or something, since all the GBA, DS, and PSP games stayed the same price.

Oh well, heres hoping FFII is $5. Else, I'll just get it and FFI at gamestop. Hoping I only need to pick up FFI from gamestop.

Oblivion for $10 is good, of course. But it might just go in my backlog; I'm not sure when I would get to it. Seems like the type of game I could even wait and buy used at the end of the generation for $5 or so. It's a very tough decision. :)

Still no drops in any of the sears around me. Did see Need for Speed Carbon for the PSP at 14.97 and Command and Conquer 3 for the 360 at $19.97 though, which I don't think have been reported. Those are still from march of course though.

I have a feeling those are gonna be snatched up rather fast if they drop.
 
Well, after 3 trips to my local Sears, I finally found the actual clearance section. There is half a row just for the clearance stuff ... separate from the $29.99 and $19.99 value game bins in the aisles.

In any case, none of the April markdowns have gone into effect yet. Found :ps3: Civilization Revolution for $24.97 and :ps2: Singstar Amped for $14.97, both with "March" marked on the clearance stickers. They had more Civ Rev, so I'll keep checking for the drop.
 
Went to a few stores where the APR drops were in effect but not marked.

Most everything only dropped $5.

Also of note, $4.97 games didn't drop to $0.97 like last month.
 
Oh yeah, every GH Aerosmith Guitar bundle has dropped to $49.97 IIRC.

For those looking for those JBL micro radial iPod docks, they're still $29.97

keep in mind that some of the .97 cents games may be out of the system by now. when i went to one recently Ultimate Block Party didn't came up when the guy scanned it. that was .97 cents.

all of the clearance games in the sears store near work are from the previous drop. ninja gaiden sigma is $19.99 but gamestop has the same price also. went to another store and picked up buzz ps3 for my sister.

I don't think Lair dropped from $24.97 to .97 in a month though.
Would certainly be a nice drop if it is true though!

Thats awesome! Did it actually drop that much in a month? Do you know if it was $24.97 in March? One of my locals had about 15 of these last week @$24.97. This could make up for the other crappy drops all by itself!

I checked Sears last night and all games had dropped by 5$ from the month before, so most games are now in the 19$ range. Civ Rev did not drop to 1.97, that looks like a price mistake as it came up as 19.9x for me, so I think the early poster got very lucky.

He couldn't post a receipt for Lair, because he didn't buy Lair, just scanned the UPC. He bought Civilization Revolution for 360, and some people didn't believe he got it for $1.97, so he posted proof.
 
I guess I know where I'm going later today. I'm going to try and get a copy(or nine) or Civ Rev from my local stores for trade fodder, though I wonder what they get @ Gamestop in trade value?

EDIT: OK, it's $25 used, so maybe $5-7. Bah. Not worth it.

Join date isn't really a good way to judge. I don't think he meant "gtfo" to be rude, but I can't be sure. I think some people write "receipt scan or gtfo" thinking it's the same as "We'd appreciate a receipt scan" rather than "I think you're full of shit, unless you prove otherwise". A lot of people just don't censor themselves on the interweb.
 
Sears clearance continues to confuse me more and more. I sure love it because I find good deals. But how are they updated in the system in each store? Where do the updates come from? Who sets the update prices? When do the updates occur? Probably to answer these questions, we would need someone who was really on the inside.
 
Nice finds shiningslade. My sears are pretty horribe, I think I got excited once when I saw two Nyko Dual USB Chargers. I took one of them to get it scanned so I could confirm the price; however, they ended up being worth more than 40 dollars each.

In my past when I worked retail, I will give you the background for how it worked at that store. I can't say how sears works, but I suspect it is very similar given their long retail history.

I worked a long time ago for Tandy. I was the POS person for the store. Every night we took the POS system (unix) into maintenance mode. In maintenance mode we sent corporate our sales receipt information. after the upload we downloaded OS patches, POS updates, and price updates. The patches ran and the system was rebooted. On those reboots we had several messages that we opened. One of them being price changes. We ran the price changes, which basically printed out shelf tags for the new prices (raise or drop).

I suspect that Sears works much like this, one employee many pages back said they would get the price drop on March 6th, but it would not be active until the 7th. This seemed to indicate that the POS needs to download from corporate a new pricing update. That update then needs to be added to the POS system for it to be effective. Highly speculative on how sears works on my part. But based on my retail POS experience, from 4 difference chains, they have all worked this way to a degree.

Thanks for the info. Although wouldn't that mean the prices should be the same for all the stores? Or maybe different prices are sent to different stores?

In general, we have seen that the clearance prices for Sears are the same for all the stores, but every once in a while, there are significant differences (for example, the prices reported on
iconps3.gif

Well a good current example can be said for Lair... One store around me still has them ringing up for $59.99 :hot: and lots of the other various titles are either retail or no where near the prices some people are getting them for... in some aspecs Sears is starting to become more YMMV to an extent or in some cases as hit and miss as Kmart can be with clearance stuff...

Similar example of that in this same Sears that has Lair for $59.99..

Fear (PS3) $4.97
Fear (360) $29.99

Even though they were both clearance and some people got both at that price this Sears is all over the place..

Who knows. We did have regional pricing when I worked at Tandy. We had ads in the paper for example, for a at&t computer on sale. None of the other regions got that. It would of course depend on how sears does their POS. If there are different update files for each store, it is certainly plausible. I looked at their POS a while back and it seems to be Unix or AS400 based. I'll look again when I troll the store during lunch today.

As promised I scanned my UPC sheet with the additions of things like Civ Rev. Unfortunately, for the second day in a row my Sears still has the old pricing and the March stickers on all of the clearance stuff. I scanned Mercs 2 because it was clearanced last month and someone said it rang up out of system, but it came up 19.97 for me (just like last month.)
