Pretty bad month for me. I bought BL3 for cheap on disc years ago when they announced the free upgrade for the PS5 version and still haven't played it. NHL 24 would be fun, but I'm still playing FC 24 from a couple months ago and the season just ended as well, so I doubt I'll get around to it. I've never played Among Us, and it seems like it could be fun, but it doesn't look like something I'll make a priority.

Got an email from Sony rewards today in regards to the end of their rewards program. They auto completed the “movie buff” pass for me, which got me a free movie (I picked Hook from the very short list). So check your emails if you were part of that rewards program.

On a related note, I had definitely completed that pass before and had at least one reward coming. I didn’t redeem anything at the time because the list was so lacking. Now I can’t figure out where to go to see if I still have a free movie coming or not. Anyone able to point me in the right direction on that? TIA
I've only had luck claiming past Movie Buff rewards by digging through my inbox and following the link in the email.

That said, I'm pretty sure I had an incomplete Movie Pass, so I wonder if they'll auto-complete it for me.

What is the Movie Buff pass on Sony Rewards? Register a movie?

Regarding July PS+, Sony must've saved a lot of money buy putting NFL 24 and Among Us on there.

I found my (2) emails, thank you! For anyone else in my situation, the emails are titled “Congrats! You have earned a FREE movie” and the sender is “Sony Rewards”

Now the question is: will they be updating the catalog before they shut down redemptions at the end of the year? I had a hard enough time picking one movie from the current selection as it is. At least the free movies don’t seem to expire despite saying they do (90 days)

If you want to search for the auto completed pass email to see if you missed it, it’s titled “Automatic Completion of Movie Buff Pass”

Man, I thought Terraria announced being done with updates like two separate times now. Crazy that it's still going and afaik, there's never been a single microtransaction.

Demo's out now for PS5/PS4:

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be out September 19 on PS5:

Biggest surprise ever:

System Shock worth $27 bucks?
I think so. I only played it when it finally got this console remaster. I’m personally really enjoying it. Kind of combination of Dead Space and Bioshock. Obviously has a bit more old school gameplay than those. But remaster seems well done.

I'm in the middle of my second play through of Elden Ring but I need a break since I have been playing it so much lately. Was gonna grab SS when it released but wanted to wait for a sale. Just wasn't sure if $27 is a good price or wait for it to go lower.

Sure it will go lower at some point. But I bought it at launch and don’t regret it at all.

Caravan Stories is hitting end of development in September on mobile. Between that and the lack of a PS Plus monthly reward for it for the first time in ages, probably a safe bet that they're dropping it on console soon too.
Mortal Blitz: Combat Arena also didn't get a PS Plus bonus this month but no news about that as of now.

naysayers always want to talk about how "there haven't been many exclusives," and "there has been no reason to upgrade this gen." But I think it's amazing how many Final Fantasies and spinoffs have been delivered this cycle.

Stranger and Crisis Core are not exclusives, and both are available on last gen. The minor improvements you'd get from playing them on current gen consoles aren't worth considering; the biggest improvement for most cross-gen games is the short loading times of the SSD drive. Stranger is a Soulslike, and Crisis Core is mainly for the most ardent FF7 lovers. As a big fan of the franchise myself, it's great that FF16 and FF7: Rebirth released quickly after each other, but I didn't need FF7 to be stretched out into a trilogy even with all the new material. I want them to hurry and make FF8 and 6 Remakes, then another new installment.

I'm playing Lufia and the Fortress of Doom right now for the first time ever and good god, I wish there was some quick of quick save option or a sleep mode... and a bunch of other changes that would just be common sense these days. Some older games are still good but could benefit greatly from some modernization. I would love to see FFVI remade akin to how Nintendo did Link's Awakening and Mario RPG remakes. Those are two of my childhood faves and playing them again just felt so right... I don't want/need an FF7 remake (and I loved Remake/Rebirth, even if they were imperfect), just too much of a time suck and too many questionable changes.

While stuff like the FF8 remaster (I'm in the "not a fan" camp with FF8 but do want to revisit it some day) and Chrono Cross remaster (one of my fave games) weren't great, the modern conveniences they had were welcome. If in the future though, I'd be curious if AI could help upscale the shitty backgrounds PS1/N64 games that used backdrops or low quality backgrounds since those seem like areas publishers skimp on.

I’ve played FF8 (PS1) on a modern display, the same display I played Remaster on. The backgrounds in Remaster look worse. They clearly did make an attempt to upscale them, it was just really poorly done.

Oh I know, I was just saying whatever they did with those backgrounds just doesn't work and they need to try something else... or just not bother.

Could anyone tell me if it's possible to check if a Playstation code has been redeemed without redeeming it? I know you can with Xbox, but not sure how it works on Playstation

New Bleach console game officially revealed so that’s a win in my book

Will cover SS arc up to Arrancar arc i.e. not all of the arcs. Character roster to be revealed later. Release date to be revealed later. No word on pricing or any special editions.

It would be nice if the game is good, but it's being developed by Tamsoft known for Senran Kagura and Oneechanbara. It will not be on the same scale of Naruto Shippuden or Dragon Ball Z Kakarot by CybeConnect2.

Probably expect Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash quality.
While I’m not holding my breath I am at least a little hopeful that this could be good or at least decent. Visually it looks nice and if it plays well and is generally a fun game then this could be resurgence of console games for the franchise.

I wouldn’t count the dev out just because of their past too. The devs behind Lies of P were making some trash games tbh and then put out one of the best Souls-like games out there. Sometimes they just have to hit their stride and get a project they care about.

But yeah fingers crossed. I hope they don’t mess this up.

Seems like better than JJK cursed clash but inferior to sparking zero for sure. camera looks hella too close for my liking but I guess I welcome something different. I'd be fine with it if it's not one of those floaty arena fighters. Honestly not even close to being as hyped as when I first saw the sparking zero reveal and ive been wanting a bleach game for years. I was hyped when I saw soul resonance though but sadly not a console game lol

Some super cheap deals in this sale. The hidden trap retro pixel bundle has five decent games for under $5. Includes themes and vita cross-buy for a few of them. The individual games are under $1 separately but may not include the themes.

Flatout 4 and the dlc pack are under $1 too.

Base P3Reload is also on sale for $30 from Amazon and Gamestop. I figure that's the lowest price it will get in the foreseeable future since most Persona games stick around $25-$30 on sales now. Supposedly they won't rerelease a new version with added stuff and I guess they just want people to buy the expansion pass DLC. For $30 I'll buy it now and then wait for the expansion pass to go on sale if reviews are good for episode aigis.

The tend to do a definitive version of all of their games, so I'll wait for the dust to settle on that. Atlus loves making people double-dip.
Oh I'm sure they will, but as of now they say no rerelease of any kind so we will see. The answer from fes which is now episode Aigis has really mixed reviews on it last time I was checking it out. I'm wondering if they will fix a lot of the complaints about it in the new DLC. If it's good cool I will wait for a sale on the expansion pass and if it's still a grindy difficult tartarus I will skip it.

The second special bot has been added to Astro's Playroom. PS Blog has an article which details the solution for the first bot (spoilers obviously for those who want to solve the puzzle themselves). The article also says that "By unlocking these 4 hidden characters in Astro’s Playroom, you will be able to take them with you into the new game, Astro Bot, and add them to your starting crew."

The news is already 12 days old, but I just found out yesterday that one of my highly wished for games is coming to PSVR2 Aug 8: Arcade Paradise VR.

I played it on Xbox and really enjoyed my time with it. But the whole time I was thinking how much cooler it would be in VR. Available to wishlist now

Summoner is a great unexpected surprise. I'd been thinking about that game recently and wanting to give it another try (never got far as a kid). PC version on Steam doesn't work on modern systems. I was planning on setting it up on a PS2 emulator at some point. So this is perfect.

I remember Jeanne d'Arc being really good too.

Oh God I remember playing Summoner on PS2. A family member found a loose disc copy in the road all scratched up and brought it to me to try just for the Hell of it.

Played flawlessly up until roughly halfway into the game and then it just froze and crashed at one point and I couldn’t get past it. Never finished it but maybe I can now . . .

Jeanne d'Arc - PS4, PS5
Oh, I got that for Vita a long time ago. I wonder if it'll be like the PS1 classics where if you already got it on PS3/Vita back in the day, the PS5 enhanced versions are free downloads. I was pleasantly surprised when they dropped Legend of Dragoon on PS5 to find my Vita version of it was the same SKU and I got the PS5 one for free.

People still play Palworld?

That was like a 3-4 week love affair binge for a few folks on my friends list. Then everyone quit.

game was cute. not some movement.
