Two questions:

1. When and why did amazon stop carrying PSN stuff?

2. Is there another reliable source to buy PSN card codes?

Best Buy & GameStop both do instant codes.

I watched a buncha videos for that Max & The Magic Marker game and it seems like the levels are super short. Am I right? Or is there a little more to the game in later levels than just using the marker to make a bridge across gaps and such?

I have a list of PSN titles I'm wanting but I'm waiting till Tuesday just to be sure they don't go on sale. Castle Crashers, Blitz, Flower, Fat Princess.

Definitely waiting for the Capcom bundle cuz I've been wanting 1942. Might as well get me some Street Fighter action for free with the bundle. Still sitting on 65 bucks in my PSN wallet so I'm burning through it over the next two weeks.

I'd like to see Flower drop again, I think it went on sale right before I got my PS3, and hasn't dropped since. And I just can't justify $10 for it. Blitz would be cool, but won't happen. I'd like to see From Dust 50% off or more, Hamilton's Great Adventure, MLB Bobblehead Pros, Okabu, Rocketbirds, Spelunker HD, Skydrift, and Slam Bolt Scrappers.

^Argh...I just bought 1942: Joint Strike, Street Fighter II HD Remix, and Final Fight Double Impact!

Edit: I won't buy that digital collection until it hits $20 to make up for the loss.
Just a heads up (since this is the PSN thread) this is apparently a 360 exclusive so unless you have a 360 holding off won't do much good.
damn i got schooled... guess if youre PS3 brah then it may be your only option.

PS Blog podcast is up, says it will announce 6 of the 12 games for 12 for '12. I'm skimming through it now, will post if I catch them.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012...ast-episode-007-journey-to-the-center-of-ces/

EDIT:

30% off for regular, 50% off for PS+

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
Eufloria
Rocketbirds
Payday
Rochard
Okabu

Mentioned starting at the 12 minute mark

6 more to be announced early next week. Rocketbirds for me for sure, probably Eufloria and Okabu. MAYBE Payday. Already own Rochard and got MKAK on 360.

Eh, I think I'll be passing on those 6. I have Payday already and none of the others terribly interest me.

Rochard is awesome, but if it's not you're type of game then that's understandable. I'm weary on Okabu because it sounds like it will get boring.

Interesting that 4 of these 6 had 20% off release day for PS+, and 1 was given away during the PSN Play program. MKAK being the other one.

Also, I think it'd be safe in assuming that Sideway will be on sale. Possibly PJ Sidescroller and infamous FoB too. Hopefully not any PS home games

So that should be $5 for Rochard for PS+ (I'm pretty sure it was 9.99). Probably get that. I'll think about Rocketbirds and Okabu.

Holding out hope on Castlevania being reduced since it came out last year but I have a question for people who played it.

I noticed the DLC for it includes four and three dollar downloads for maps for chapters...like...8 through 11. Are these part of the main campaign and were left out. Does the campaign with the core game have an ending that brings things to resolution? I'm not getting it if I have to buy another ten dollars of DLC to see the story line completed.

yeah the castlevania hod game is self contained. those extra maps are just bonus levels and bonus characters, but not necessary at all. no trophies for that dlc either.
already have mkk, rochard eufloria and payday. i might bite on okabu and rocketbirds for cheap plats, but idk.
hoping for deadblock, echochrome 2, slambolt scrappers and dungeon defenders still...
when does that sr3 cheapyd dlc come out?
on the 17th. You can just download the compatibility pack if people don't want to buy the Genki Bowl DLC from the looks of it.
Shit, looks like I'll be spending a ton of money then.
Me too. I am loaded up on Xbox points, but there hasn't been much on sale over there recently. Wish there was a way to convert those into PSN funds. :whistle2:(

After reading up on the reviews on Okabu, the trophy requirements, and realizing it was released at $15 (I thought it was $12), it's going to be a definite pass.

I want to check out Payday, but I know it wasn't really built for single player so I'm hesitant. Anybody have any impressions about Payday single player?

For Okabu, they released a patch that allows mini games to count towards the trophy requirements.

Interesting. Have you played the game? Is it fun? Is it too simple?
the 12 for 12 sales last a full week?
PSN only updates once a week. Even misprices last a week.

I thought Payday was perfectly fine in the single player aspect. The AI isn't completely retarded and they actually help you out. Granted, the multiplayer is where the real fun is at, but you won't be bored if you're playing by yourself.

I can't recommend this game enough. It has some tough trophies, but it does have a platinum as well for all you trophy hunters.
Is Crysis as great as every says it is? I don't dislike FPSs, but they have to have a more than basic story to interest me and keep me going. Is this just another kill spree campaign, or does it have a intriguing plot? Basically, do you reccomend it to a person very much in to story-driven games?

Also, I'm new to the PS3, is the PS+ membership worth keeping up? Are the perks worth $50 a year?
I personally think Crysis is a great game with a fully fleshed out story line. I won't make any direct spoilers, but it follows a pretty formulaic pattern in terms of the plot development of a typical fps/sci-fi/adventure game, which are a clump of categories I'd say this game falls under. It doesn't feel as precise and realistic as COD, and doesn't have as much realism either, but there does appear to be a bit more substance plot-wise (in a fantastical sort of way), a little more weapon diversity, and less (not by much) of a shooting frenzy. I'd say that at least on the PS3, the graphics are on par with COD4. It's just over a 3 GB port so don't expect your mind to be blown. I'm glad I waited to cash in on the free month of PS+ because ~$10.00 was the price I was hoping for!

If PS+ enhanced the PSN so that it had the same stability and consistent throughput of XBOX Live, I'd say it'd be worth $50, but it doesn't. If you don't care about download speed but do download a lot of games on PSN (like overnight), then it just may well be worth it to you. I'd usually wait to see if it ever goes on sell, or look for misprints like in the Target ad a few months back. PS+ usually offers free game downloads, however you can only play those games so long as you have PS+ or else you'll need to buy them. It depends on how much replay value a game has for you.

You know, they have demos for both of those games.
You know, they have demos for both of those games.
Yup, demos are great to verify that you enjoy the gameplay and art style of the game. But I find they're not great at reflecting things like difficulty curves, repetition within the game, overall difficulty of the game (because the demo usually takes place at the beginning of the game with simple challenges/puzzles), new mechanics that are introduced later in the game, and so on.

So that's why I like to ask for impressions as well.

There's also a bank robbery mp mode in Kane & Lynch 2, if I remember correctly. Even more interesting is that in that mode, you supposedly respawn on the cop 'team' trying to stop your former teammates.:D

Thanks for the info on Crysis. I think I'm gonna get it. I did get Crysis 2 from the BBY sale and am a sucker for starting from the beginning of a franchise if possible. Also, it looks pretty enjoyable with a long campaign.

I redeemed the 30 day free trial I recieved from my PS3, and will see how it goes. I will definitely look for sales, though. Thanks.

I have actually played that mode and it was a blast. You do actually respawn on the cop side and have to take down your former teammates. It's a lot of fun.

Picked up Crysis with my PS+ discount and finished it. Definitely got my money's worth. I'm going through it again on the hardest difficulty to get my platinum. I think I'd prefer it over Crysis 2, but Crysis 2 had some small improvements to controls and movement that made it feel a bit smoother, and the presentation and story were a bit better.

got the plat on kanenlynch2 dogdays and that mp was really fun, kinda boostn much tho.

glad to read you liked payday, i own it but i only played like the first week prepatch and solo and thought it was a bit eh, but that was inbetween mw3 and bf3 rounds, so yeah...I heard trophies were really hard but id be down for co op if anyones down

I've been trying to get friends on PSN to buy the game(super cheap now I think) to play some of that bank robbery mode, but everybody said they would and then it just never happened.

You see the BF blog? People were bitching about other people 'not playing the game right' or "cheating"(in their opinion) by doing such things as flying planes into choppers and/or using a remote controlled vehicle as essentially an elevator to get atop buildings you're not supposed to get onto and snipe others from there. Glad I decided to not play the game's mp cuz those would probably be two of the things I'd try.:D

I'll be pickin up PayDay, I'm down to play if you're pretty good and willing to go for the trophies.

I am also looking for some people to go for the trophies for Payday, just name a time.

yeah im down gettinmoney. and yeah i love that stuff cheapest. i heard they nerfed something like covering your jeep in semtex and blowing it up and you can't c4 the objective... i really havnt played it much but i loved sniping and vehicles so much in bf2.

and i totally missed $2 jill and gogoth(something octupus guy) on psn mvc3 sale last week. doh, i can't/won't pay $10 for 2 characters. damn they should be in ultimate mvc3 anyway!

I used to always cover my jeep in C4 in Mercenaries and Mercenaries 2 and kamikaze into enemy bases/buildings.

I had a blast with the original game, but the second one had some very frustrating missions(church defense mission) where the NPC's threw everything but the kitchen sink at you, yet the majority of the other missions were so frickin' easy to complete you could practically do so with your eyes closed.

At first I was going to be all shocked that people would actually bitch about that kind of thing, but then I remember most of the people are doing that probably never played BF1942 or the like.

When my friends & I would play that on LAN/online, it was our MISSION to do crazy shit like surfing on the bomber-plane, or launching friendly players onto tall buildings with TNT when friendly-fire was off, and kamikaze jeeps to one-shot enemy tanks. Ingenuity was a prime ingredient in winning that game, and I commend the folks who thought up the tricks you mentioned above.

Nowadays, if someone gets their ass handed to them in ANY regard they cry foul on the intarweb about how unfair/unbalanced/broken the game is, instead of getting their hands dirty and fighting fire with fire.

Seriously, riding the MAV is pure genius (and I will try it myself when they patch the fucking aim-down-sights issue).

I used to have people in Grand Theft Auto IV's deathmatch/team deathmatch games bitching at me over my headset and voting to kick me for....wait for it....using cars to run them over to get kills or to help me get kills in the game.

Yeah. A game called Grand Theft AUTO and I was expected to run halfway across the damn map on foot just to get one kill when there's plenty of cars around I could use instead.

Of course, it also didn't help that I lagged like crazy due to my 768kbps DSL AND being on a wireless connection at that point, so I also had people accusing me of lag switching or whatever the fuck they called it.
