Also, I loved Spiderman Web of Shadows.  Not sure why it came up, but I found it much more entertaining/playable than Shattered Dimensions (which was also the last Spiderman game I played).

Doesn't help that this week's deals are pretty much entirely meh and sales primarily on games that have already been free for PS+ members or at least cheaper elsewhere maybe.

I also liked Bionic Commando. Honestly even at the time the game felt dated, but the base gameplay itself was fun. The level design on the other hand is probably what led so many people to hate it. Get the idea of exploring out or your head right now. You will go where the game wants you to go or you will die, sometimes without warning. When given the ability to swing around like a maniac, most people wanted the freedom to swing where they wanted, not be led down skyscraper sized corridors.

Come to think of it, get the idea of completion out of your head as well. You can't go back to previous areas to get stuff you missed. You have to get it all in one go, which is not advisable on your first playthrough. You will go insane.

Not for 1 second. The real reason the game is so fuck ing good is because it gets the character right. Spidey is cracking jokes the whole frigging time like Spidey would. The villians are the way they should be character wise and all the best ones are in there. There is no dumb movie tie in nonsense. The swing mechanics are pretty much the basis for all modern Spider-Man titles. The combat is even great, yes simplistic but at least the powers are stuff that spidey would do. Obviously the animation and limitations are there but I'd way prefer this be the start of a new game rather than the dumb ass Shattered Dimensions plot. Fun game but it took itself way too serious.

EDIT: Looks like most the SquareEnix sales are updated, maybe it won't be too much longer.

Still, them be 10 mins late with the update coupled with the Xbone price cut means I'm jumping ship to the One later this summer. PSN lost one customer here due to tardiness!

I very much enjoy the excitement building of glorious E3 possibilities. This month is a fun ride, and I make the most of it. And, I don't get particularly bent out of shape if things don't go my way... it is what it is.

I had fun with Socom 4, it's worth it cheap for sure. It's a pretty quick plat if iirc, though I don't know how online plays in (I don't remember it being hard to get the online trophies... coop missions, maybe? i know some game had cool coop missions and i think that was it).

It's set up differently that Unit 13 though. The closest thing to Unit 13 in terms of overall style is probably Killzone Mercs on vita.

The Brothers in Arms games were fun too, added a bit of squad based play. Not really too similar to U13 but largely ignored/forgotten.

Tangentially similar to unit 13's 'shooter meets score attack' heritage would be The Club and Stranglehold on ps3.

 
Socom 4's multiplayer got shut down so that may affect your decision.

Brothers in Arms games were fun, but if I remember correctly it had unskippable cutscenes which are just annoying. Prevented me from wanting to go back and play it a second time.

Plus, great fuel for a weeks worth of discussion on whether games like Crimson Gem Saga and Gugnir are worth $5. Then again, most of the psp rpgs on sale this week are definitely worth $5... so it'll be more like "which two of these should i buy?".

Bruce is fantastic in everything, his cheese and ham are superb. Evil Dead, Burn Notice, etc. Even his guest appearance or cameo or whatever on that 1600 penn, for the moment i watched it, he snuck in a hail to the king reference, and all was good.

It is so funny/strange that they made him a staple in all the spiderman games and original movies. /sam raimi - duh

I remember playing spider-man 2 on gamecube and thinking that was the best, just chilln and swinging for hours. Then I got a ps3 and thought wow, this is gonna be the next level of chilln n swinging, boy was I wrong. I am still waiting for a spiderman game that captures that web shoot, swing, boost, arc, let go of button, shoot more web, etc flow that spider-man 2 had. It seems they keep messing up and doing indoor spider-man games, or levels, or etc. Amazing was better, but still not amazing enough.

Some of Sony's recent success was just sitting back and waiting to announce things after Microsoft.

Sony was going to bundle the camera with the system, abandoned that (getting the price down to $400) after the reaction to Microsoft's announcement.

There was a time when all the rumors were that Sony was going to go all digital with their system and people were all in a huff about it. Flash forward a year when Microsoft makes a similar push towards almost all digital, internet jihad ensues, and Sony gets to ride in on a white horse announcing their system didn't always have to be online.

Those Microsoft mistakes are gone or going away. Sony better be on top of their shit if they want to keep their relatively slim lead.

I think with Last Guardian, Sony needs to hold back on talking about it until it is finished. Just go Apple style, show a clip, then tell people that it's on PSN right now and on its way to store shelves. At the very least have a demo up. Otherwise leave it as vaporware.

Well, I'll be in for P3P (finally). 

Any thoughts on Crimson Gem Saga? Seems to be a pretty straightforward JRPG. My backlog is pretty jammed up with RPGs anyway... if there's nothing extraordinary about it, I'll likely pass.
