judgment only hurt the multiplayer aspect of gears, the campaign was still pretty solid. overrun was also a really interesting multiplayer mode, but of course it was overshadowed by everyone's hate for the rest of the modes.

I really liked Overrun a lot. I didn't play too much of the previous Gears online other then co op stuff / horde mode. I hated the damn shotgun in most death match modes in 1 -3.

I sort of feel the same way to an extent. The thing is everyone laughed at Sony in the beginning of the PS3 gen. I bought a 360 first. Towards the end the PS3 was pulling ahead and still supporting the PS3 late into the gen. The 360 didn't have much at all as time went on. Sony also said screw it and went back to the basics and asked the developers what they wanted. They also made the smart move of thinking what do gamers want? GAMES GAMES GAMES.

Sony is currently just throwing the kitchen sink of games at their consoles and that's all I really want at the end of the day. I don't want need the TV, apps, etc. etc. Nice perks sure but to be honest I could live without them too. As a PS3, PS4, Vita owner PS+ gives me something to be genuinely excitied for and happy with. I'm tired of the be all end all approach. If anything I'd say the competition was good for Sony.

Microsoft needed to make a move. Now if Nintendo would only wake up and do the same we'd have something fun to watch and something to benefit from as gamers.

Yup, I was definitely going Sony-only this gen even before I got banned on MS. I love the "throw the kitchen sink of games" attitude, especially with indies. Also helps that the Vita is awesome.

Xbox 360: Offer games that are less appealing/older/cheaper than the PS3's "free" games, but let the user keep them without a sub required.

It is 2 for at least June. The article I read made it seem like that was the case moving forward. The first 2 games are Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: Curse of the Brotherhood.

I loved Bionic Commando when it came out. But that was 4 or 5 years ago and I hadnt really played a lot of PS3 games yet. I am sure it is very dated now as it was a bit even then. Duke Nukem I hated. Dark Void was throw away even a few years ago, so it gets a "meh" from me. Midnight Club was fun and could still be fun today I bet. If you like street racers. Goes without saying, but I havent played the rest.

Amazing Spider-Man - Enjoyed it more than I expected.

Bionic Commando - Started it on 360, got bored. It probably didn't help that I knew the WTF plot twist already.

Dark Void - Heard "meh" things about it, but never played it myself.

Duke Nukem Forever - If you like the old Duke games and have really low expectations, you might like this more than critics did. Warning: The loading times suck balls of steel.

Dungeon Siege 3 - Played the demo on 360, wasn't bad. But if I wanted an isometric-ish Action-RPG (though DS3 is more Action than RPG), I'd rather play Diablo III.

Silent Hill HD Collection (Beat 2, haven't played 3 yet) - Heard terrible things about both on PS3, but can't remember which was worse.

Midnight Club LA Complete - Can't provide much of an opinion for racing games.

i know it's cool to hate it, but i liked duke nukem. if you're a fan of the older games at all, i would definitely play it.

dungeon siege was fun too, but the co-op system was done horribly(only the host's character matters).

i haven't played midnight club in several years, but i had a blast with it then(it also frustrated me, traffic). nothing else recently has had as good of customization with the cars either.

Bionic Commando is fun, if flawed. Once it clicks and you are effortlessly swinging it is quite fun. If you are anal about trophy completion you need to play with a guide to get all the collectables as there is no way to replay levels in the game.

edit: If you own Bionic Commando: Rearmed (the PSN remake of the original game) and have it downloaded you can play as the classic skin which I prefer.

Web of Shadows, or Edge of Time? I just sold Web of Shadows, I hated it.

If you can find it cheap, Shattered Dimensions is the best Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2. I'd rank my top 4 SM games as follows:

1. Spider-Man 2

2. Shattered Dimensions

3. Spider-Man (PS1)

4. Amazing Spider-Man

I would have liked Duke more if the load times werent horrid. Long and frequent load times kill many games for me.

Also, using the arm in BC was the main reason I loved the game so much. It was a lot of fun when you got going.
