Didn't realize that PSN was doing the Summer Blast Sale until I went to input my PS+ code I got from the PUR at gamestop (spent 50k points for a free year).

I then promptly spent $20 on a PSN code on Amazon and got SOTC, Mortal Kombat and Ratchet and Clank Collection.

I don't know if I should be happy or annoyed I just spent $20 more today, on games, lol.

Velocity Ultra is surprisingly good!

I like how the controls all immediately feels right and the mechanics flow well with each other.

Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for a spiffy vertical scrolling shooter.

^Would be awesome if they were available instantly, but I'm sure they won't be. Wish Amazon would get the $10 cards.
They are. It shows up after purchasing it on the order receipt. You can also look at the order history and the code will be on there too.

Edit: Forgot to add though, I have a GameStop account and signed in. Not sure if the code will be on there if you purchase as a guest.

You can't, other than purchasing it with a second account.
thats pretty weak. I'm not so much concerned about leting PS+ lapse. Its great and i dont plan on that, im more concerned about when PSN servers go bye bye and all PS+ games are null. If i bought the game and payed then i could still use it. Not so if it was a PS+ game with an expiration date =(

It happened with the original Xbox. I didn't get the KOTOR patch with the extra station and stuff =(

Everyone seems so concerned about this, my guess is when that time nears they will "release" that restriction and give everyone a period of time to load up said games to whatever storage device. Wishful thinking of course...

But you don't play games, so don't worry about it.

It took me a while to get around to it, but now that I've actually played a few hours of it, I'll say XCom is actually pretty good.  I didn't think it looked like something I'd enjoy, but I was wrong.

It is fucking good. If there is a better turn-based strategy game this generation, I don't know of it.
:shame: fire emblem?

Anyway, I started playing xcom and foolishly exited out thinking it followed the same save/load convention as 99% of modern games. I only lost about 40 minutes of gameplay, but I've been too annoyed to return to it.

This talk makes my want to push XCOM to the top of my backlog... Too bad I have hundreds of more hours in TLoU MP and Ni No Kuni to go at this rate tho lol

^Disgaea 3 & 4 are easily 100x better IMO. ;)
Very different approaches to a similar genre though.

I want to start XCOM, but that 30 hour average at howlongtobeat is rather intimidating :cold:
That time will fly by once you dig into. It pushed itself to the top of my queue very soon after I started playing.
That and you will also fail the first couple of games unless you play on the easy setting. Normal and above with Ironman turned on, which I really recommend as the only way to play the game, is where the real game starts.

It follows the ending to P4, but in a vague way - from what I recall, there aren't that many details involved. It spoils the shit out of P3 and its epilogue, however.
I think the P3 spoiler is only really a spoiler if it's pointed out, because otherwise, I didn't catch it or it might fly over your head. & from what I understand, it only really is mentioned in Elizabeth's story.

Otherwise, completely recommend P4A, though yeah, it might be best if you finish up P4G.

You could say the same thing about several great games. If you're enjoying those 30 hours, what difference does it make?
You will get hooked once you start playing. :)

I'm just not super eager to start something that is going to take so long, as I've been doing well trimming down my backlog and that would really throw a wrench into it. Still, all this talk is probably going to make me start it anyway, I've just been focusing on shorter games as of late (still haven't started Fallout 3  ).

TURND on PS 3

saw message said pinball arcade patched

thot it was for vita but guess not... .
I had the same hope, breakfuss, but no dice. The good news for me was, cheshire_smile at the following link eventually came through and helped out, so try chatting or giving CS a call. It's now working for me after a month of the same errors on Vita/PS3/Web.

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Vita-Support/Solution-Available-Cannot-download-Pinball-Arcade-vita/m-p/40422801

Im in the middle of P4G, will there be spoilers? Also is 22.49 the sale price?
If you play Story mode, there will be some spoilers but the fighting itself can be played, no prerequisite.

HOWEVER on Amazon, it's $21.35. Both are sale prices.

This is a pretty random question but I feel you guys will know the answer: with the Disgaea games, is there any benefit to playing them in order or are they completely separate from each other like the Final Fantasy games?

Sort of, they're all in the same universe but the stories don't overlap I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Completely separate but the mechanics have improved so much, that its hard to go backwards. There are some references but not worth the dozens of hours each game is to understand some extra scenes IMO.

Part 1 for story 3 vita/4 for end game

Well, I own all 4 so I might as well play them in order, thanks guys and to the two who PMed me.

Hopefully this is useful to someone and hasn't been posted yet. Gamestop now has $10 PSN Digital Download

http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/dlc/playstation-network-10/110529
I'm a bit late but thanks much for posting this, had a $25 giftcard just sitting around for months, put it towards a couple $10 codes. With PS4 on the horizon, shouldn't take very long to spend it. Also a heads up, it wouldn't let me check out with more than one at a time so I just made two separate orders -- no biggie.

Okay. I've got about $0.70 left in my PSN wallet, staring at me.

...is Hydrophobia at all worth the $0.60?

The trailer looked pretty, uh... not amazing... but I do need an excuse to play with my Move, and for $0.60, maybe it's, I dunno... okay...? Has anyone actually played it?

I found a few lists online, though I'm not sure if they are what you are looking for:

All upcoming Vita games: http://www.ign.com/games/upcoming/vita

Every Vita game released or announced: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games

List of upcoming indie games (includes PS3/4 though): http://www.computerandvideogames.com/397868/spelunky-among-14-indie-games-coming-to-ps3-vita/

Hopefully these are at least somewhat helpful, I couldn't find a perfect list either.

It's a mediocre game that costs less than a pack of gum. For most of us it has less to do with whether it's any good and more that it's a 60 cent game. If you're as sick as the rest of us, and if you were you probably wouldn't be asking, you have your answer. Otherwise, if it doesn't look that great to you then pass if you value 60 cents more and don't want 11 trophies (no plat) but again you wouldn't be asking if you did.

The Move support is terrible, so don't buy it for that.

Here's a gameplay video I did for the first 25 minutes:

So my PS3 just died on me a few nights ago and I have a couple of PS+ related questions I was hoping someone could answer:

1. My current PS+ subscription expires in September and I have a one-year card that I never got to use. Is there a benefit to using that card now (via Sony's website) rather than waiting until I actually get a new PS3? From what I read in the FAQ, I can get all the PS+ games I downloaded even if it lapses for a few months.

2. I plan on downloading any new games that come up as long as I'm a Plus member via Sony's website, so if I do let my Plus expire and then renew it a few months later, the games I downloaded even from Sony's website should be available to me on my new console, correct?

3. There were a couple of free games I had sitting in my download management screen so I could claim them before they went away for good but I didn't download them fully. Are these games gone or can I re-download them on my new system?

I know these are kind of oddly specific scenarios but I just don't want to lose any of the value of PS+ especially since I just signed up for it. I plan on possibly getting a new PS3 on Black Friday unless a significant price drop occurs beforehand.

Don't buy and play a game just because it's cheap.

Consider what your time is worth to you and what you might rather be doing than suffering through a bad experience.
