Took Murder Miners, thanks Bruticis!

This may the first time I've ever successfully lurked anything. I feel so proud. And cheap. And dirty.

Thanks for the drops.  I took the Cat Lady.  Looks interesting.  The first game I ever swiped on here.  I'm so proud. :p

Well, unlike the ridiculous complaints about the GTA series, this really does seem like a murder (or more specifically mass murder) simulator. I understand why Valve didn't want to greenlight it and I think it was probably the right thing to do to pull it.
Meh, personally don't see it too big a deal. A game like that can be a fun thing every now and then, and don't think it will have any real effect (other then becoming a scapegoat when someone kills a bunch of people in real life).

I get the point from Valve's/any sellers point that they probably want to avoid the shit storm the game is going to cause, and the activists that will start boycotts and all that jazz over the decision to sell Hatred. '

EDIT: So watched the trailer finally (wasn't going to originally), and yeah can see how some people can find that pretty disturbing. As said, where a game like Postal was over the top, silly, and thus kind of fun Hatred doesn't seem like it'd be fun at all. I was expecting a bit less...dark I guess when said a game like that can be fun now and then, struggling to see how Hatred will be.

Even Hotline Miami took it a bit over the top, I think once it starts to get into more realistic/gritty style going it gets a bit more....again disturbing is the best way I can describe it.

Now should a company/companies not carry it? Ehhh, on the fence. I can see it from the company side for sure, because it will stir up complaints and boycotts and all sorts of stuff due to it's nature. Can see how an owner/staff can be bothered by it as well and not want to sell it. Of course the flip side is if you think you can deal with the backlash, all the talk will drive sales and thus make the company money.

Speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if GabeN's thought is that Steam can deal with backlash, considering how many people use Steam and how many (as someone mentioned) people are "Steam or bust." So at worst they lose some people, and make a decent chunk of cash from the people buying Hatred due to it being "edgy." (Plus you know all the popular Youtube people will play it, possibly driving more sales)

GabeN saw how many upvotes the thing got in half a day: #7 on Greenlight within a few hours.  They get 30% or so of all those potential sales.  The math isn't hard.

And I wouldn't at all be opposed to such a thing as I think most regulars ignore it and move right to the unread posts.

Keep in mind though, that the OP is more for the less hardcore and I get why Cheapy wants them. I can only imagine clicking on one of the many console thread links on CAG and being forced to wade through hundreds of pages to find the deal.
Been in a few threads where I hadn't been on in a day, or during Steam sales a few hours and trying to dig through all the missed posts to find the deals is a massive pain in the ass. So the OP is good for that.

Going to toss it in here while thinking about, more bundle game short reviews:

Post Master--Meh, it seemed okay but I couldn't really get into it, The tutorial was long as hell though it served up a gem when it explained to me that you get money from delivering stuff and lose money from buying stuff. Wow, never knew that's how business works, thanks game! Oh throughout had this feeling it was a game with all these details that don't really do much, didn't play enough to prove that though.

Farming World--This game I did actually like, and no it didn't seem like a reskinned Post Master. It felt like the details actually did play a role and I guess farming is just more interesting. You have to watch the weather, soil conditions, rainfall (that one didn't make as much sense granted) growing seasons and so forth. It's downside seems once you figured out how to start it can get a bit easy, though Stars are hard to come by which does help a bit.

Desert Ashes--Played maybe 5 minutes before knew it wasn't for me, so not much of a review. Uhm, turn based move, fight something, more turn base. Meh meh meh for me.

Toki Tori 2+--Didn't think it was as good as Toki Tori, side scrolling platformer pretty much but didn't think it was a very fun one at that. Only played the first level so maybe it gets better.

... have you played Postal 1? It's a very different game from Postal 2. 2's satire, and over the top, while 1... is much more grounded in reality (there's no goofiness or humor to offset the violence.)

I think this (Mooby's comment) more than anything else. As I said earlier, he is more interested in making a few bucks than setting standards as to what should be on Steam and that's why it's such a free-for-all now.

And I don't think this is a new attitude on Gabe's part, which is probably also why all of the RwS stuff got a pass once the indie floodgates opened.

I have not, saw (after I posted) back a few pages it was mentioned it was quite different from Postal 2. So I'll have to watch some videos on it at some point later on. Assumed it'd be fairly similar, so my bad on that one.

Still a handful of bargains out there, I'm looking at Devil's Dare (2900 gems, 89% discount at present) but I think I'm one bid away from an intervention.

If I knew that buying games could get me the attention of a circle of attractive women, I'd have bought more shitty bundles.

Okay so if Hatred is coming back why not Seduce Me? Or are titties worse than mass murder?

And yes I know the game sucks, so what?

In, at least, the US? Yes they are. Favorite story I've heard (and repeat it quite a bit) the Developers of Culpa Innata had to remove a implied sex scene from the NA version because the ESRB would have given the game an AO rating (it was already M rated because they referred to boyfriends/girlfriends as sexual partners (and barely did that come up anyways)).

I'll see in a bit if their forums are still up, and the post still there. It was a response to someone wondering why a game with no violence or sex got rated M.

EDIT: Short summary on it from their forums by Nix, who (if I recall) was one of the devs:

Well the "standard" for what triggers an "M" rating is extremely broad.

Meaning any reference to sexuality no matter how vague triggers an M

Because people say the words "primary sexual partner" and discuss who was someone's sexual partner (meaning thier name no details

This was enough to trigger an M for "sexual content

If we had not removed the two scenes they would have given us an "adult only" which would have killed retail placement in most places like Best Buy etc

It is discussed elsewhere in the forums but there it is.

As to the scenes, one is a sound and visual but no physical details

One is an inset showing a character using the "device" mentioned at the heart of the mystery and though again there are no graphic details it is obvious to an adult what she is doing while using the device. Again all totally in context and never explicit.

If we shot hookers in cars after having sex (ala GTA) - we would have just had an M for such scenes .oh well... so it goes.

There are far more offensive games on Steam... like Arcania, the so called 'Gothic 4!'
I've yet to play Arcania + its stand-alone expansion, even though I've had it forever.

I did play the Demo - while at its time when it came out, it looked gorgeous. But, I just couldn't for the life of me grasp why it was called Gothic 4 - other than the fact that they needed "brand recognition".

What was there in the demo didn't feel like a RPG with action elements, it felt more like a action-game with very little RPG elements.

But how do we burn digital copies of a game that hasn't even come out yet?
Pre-load it when it's available; and burn the copies to a CD's, DVD's, or Blu-Ray disc.

Oh, wait - you mean a different kind of burning, eh? ;)

That's a pretty good assessment. That and the writing and design are horribly amateur. There are better indie games out there.

God knows.

For some reason - graphic violence warrants R-rating (parents over the age can bring a child), yet graphic nudity/sex gets a NC-17 (no children allowed period); and for games the ESRB gives graphic violence the M (retail stores like WalMart will sell this), yet graphic nudity/sex gets AO (won't be sold by most stores).

One would figure: no matter if it's either sex, violence, or both - the more graphic it is and the amount of it that's in there, it'd be a lot easier for these games or movies to get AO or NC-17. You'd think something like Doom or MK9, as violent + as bloody as they both are - could get a chance at AO.

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy uncut version), Manhunt 2 PC (Uncut version), Singles: Flirt Up Your Life, and Singles 2: Triple Trouble seem to not be on Steam, as well. Hell, even cut versions of these games don't appear on Steam - Singles had a M-rated version at retail; Fahrenheit had a M-rated version (Indigo Prophecy in USA); and Manhunt 2 on consoles has M-rated version.

Fahrenheit -was- on Steam for many years but it was apparently removed due to rights issues, not because of its content.

And Valve simply refuses to have anything rated Adults Only on Steam. If they had AO games they'd have to change a lot of things about their store, including a way to keep minors away from that content, and you know they're lazy as fuck and won't bother with it.

When Fahrenheit was on Steam - was in the cut version (Indigo Prophecy) or the uncut version (Fahrenheit, which is on GOG)?

It'd be certainly interesting to see Steam Support deal w/ those kind of complaints from parents... ;)

Whoops, I it was called Indigo Prophecy. My bad.

They already have birthday check on some games though, so should be enough. After all no-one lies on those (yes Steam, my birthday is January 1st I swear...)

... check your gift inventories.

Apparently items bought before the general lock are getting region locked too.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Round 1, dumping this here and on Kodex so the lurkers can compete with pure evil.
Nice drop. :)

... but I do wonder who this "kony" person is, and why they claimed all the games I'm missing. :whistle2:(

Damn, Valve just locked my account for 5 days because I funded it with Paypal.

Should probably tell you this beforehand I'd just drive my ass to 7-11 and buy a prepaid card. Real douche move for the middle of a sale. (I've used this Paypal account before BTW, it's not a "new credit card")

I had the same thing happen to me last year when I was "trading" games. Luckily bought a few extra copies (and was able to gift the rest), but still really annoying.
