I'm sitting with 200 gems now and I'm debating picking up one last pack to try and win one last auction, but it's probably just not worth it.  Guess I'll just eat them.  

Ended up winning the Cinemaware Collection for 2,510, Golf Club for 10,100, Mutant Blobs Attack for 1,350, and GT Legends for 1,400.  Only spent $13 on the gems to get them, so I'm pretty happy with how it all worked out.

Got The Inner World, Tetrobot and Co., and Dead Man's Draw for about 5500. Probably not worth the trouble when they all get 75% tomorrow and bundled in January, but I did maybe 5% better and got the badge/XP for what it's worth.

I actually thought it was just Chapter 1 when I was bidding on it but it turns out it is the whole Season Pass. The DLC tab says it has Chapter 0, Chapter 1, and Soundtrack and Album book. When I added the Season Pass to my cart it tells me I already own it :)

Will edit my post to reflect that it is the whole Season pass.

 
I got what I thought would be less likely to be bundled.. which is MDK2 HD and Tommy Tronic. Holding off on bidding on anything else, too much bundle fodder.

You can just bid again with a new amount. I would just go over the current max by 1 and if their max was much higher it would jump by 50 gems. If it was close it would go up by 1. Just keep in mind there's a 10 sec cool down on bids.

Okay, I have a couple to confess:

First off.. .I spent zero dollars and made around $10 just from gem-ifying garbage.In addition to the $10, I won:

- White Haven Mysteries. One of the few HoGs I don't have... might as well complete the set and it was one of the lowest-bid items (800 gems).

- Sentinel 3. Tower Defense, looks real cool. Could be bundle bait, but it was free and I won bought it for 1300 gems.

I have to admit I kind-of dismissed the auction thing right away because I didn't want to have to monitor my bids and I didn't want to have to dig through the listings to find the cheaper stuff that I could afford with my 8400 gem pile gained from recycling my non-card inventory items.  I wish I had been smarter about the whole thing and realized that I could buy extra gems and inventory stuff for pennies early on and therefore gotten auctioned games most likely way cheaper than their future sale prices.  Based on past sale shenanigans I was too focused on trying to build up some wallet money instead and really didn't manage to do that either.

Maybe the OP could be used for current sale tips because I obviously take way too long to figure out the buying/selling angle the Gaben team presents to me each new sale.

On a happier note I was able to win one auction in a totally guilt free fashion.  I spent too much time here reading responses to my bidding questions and ended up missing the bid-at-the-last-minute window so I just tossed my gems on the bid pile for the next round and went to bed.  My game was in my inventory when I woke up.  Thanks for distracting me thereby saving me from sure damnation and a sleepless night filled with heartburn and regrets.   :grouphug:

I skipped the auctions but it was an informed skipping.  Nothing from my wish list was going to be more than 50% off at gem pricing and I didn't feel any desire to mess with it just to +1 some bundle fodder that'll be in the bottom 20% of my backlog forever.  I'll get it for 95% off when it's one game out of seven in a bundle for a buck.

 
It's been a really fun little event. I snagged seven games I actually wanted (plus I £4.50 of gems to make The Golf Club happen) so it's been good.

The sale can suck now, I've had my fun.

Both seem to be typically designed isometric shooters of their day in age.

picked up max curse of brotherhood for 2500 gems, with only 5 listings left (3 hours) I woulda thought bidding would have gotten fast and furious on some of these items but pretty much everything on my wishlist is actually lower right now than yesterday afternoon.  weird

I only have 100 leftover gems, made a booster pack with 400.  I guess 400 is the minimum for making a pack, I wonder if gem sacks will plummet in price after the auction is over?  Seems like it should with nothing but boosters to use them on?

 
Outcast 1.1 announced and available from Steam shortly here!  $5.99 and an immediate Fakeybro purchase for me.

Outcast was one of my absolute favorite action-adventure games from 1999 and one of the first real open world games.  Brilliant storytelling in a complex world with deep backstory, and a ton of fun.  Response to this release will help contribute to a full HD remake (it was a failed Kickstarter - the only Kickstarter I have ever supported).

OTOH I already have them all except Deus Ex: The Mobile Port so I suppose I really shouldn't care.

 
I'm wondering whether it's one key or multiple keys.

If the latter, we may have a key giveaway ahead. I'd like to make it fun though so I think I'll demand that entrants slaughter a powerless seasonal lurker by clubbing them with a sack full of gems. That's about as topical as we can get I think.

Base game was $17 after Paypal currency conversion as well. Puts it at 66% off, better than it was over the Steam Fall sale so presumably better than it'll be over the Winter sale if last year is any indication.
