Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

One of the Edmonds closed. I think silver springs store is open On NW expressway. I think that’s my closest.
I just got an email this morning that the Edmond 2nd Street location closed. I’ve been going there since we moved to OKC in 2005. It was my favorite store for years and the guy therwas very knowledgeable on games and current promotions. 😞

Danforth in Edmond or Bell Isle/Penn Square are my closest now. They’re about 15 minutes away in each direction from me.

I didn’t see the Yukon Retro store on the currently open list either unless I missed it.

They definitely would have to create a new sku, but that isn’t a big issue. They add new SKUs all the time.

The main reason they don’t do this is because they have too many stores in the company to manage it properly and to enforce its done right. It would absolutely get abused by employees, or there will be too many employees making mistakes.

Like an employee can easily just give someone the lesser value for a complete game so they can in return buy it back afterwards at a cheaper price with their discount. Easy enough to claim ignorance and explain they made a mistake on the two different SKUs if they do end up getting caught.

Another issue is that the employee may accidentally give someone full credit for an incomplete game and then it’s now being sold incomplete at the complete price.

The smaller mom and pop game stores that do this, don’t have thousands of stores and employees to worry about. It’s usually just their store so they can easily manage pricing games complete/incomplete and buy and sell them accordingly.
Or they could just spin off stores as franchises.

All the Hobby Off stores, under the Hard Off brand in Japan, price their games based on market value and condition. There isn't a central repository of data, because tracking every used item would be absurd. It gives the local store leeway to price to accommodate the local market and the actual condition of the piece. Some of the nicest stuff is packed up and shipped to flagship stores or sold at their auction, but that's usually stupid rare stuff and not just mint condition retail copies (think developer units, actually rare limited editions, not for retail sale stuff, etc.).

There's many ways to skin a cat, but GameStop is caught with an investor market that *has* to have the line go up or they might lose their irrational investor base, they have a complete chud of a CEO right now, and likely coasting on being the "only game in town" since distribution of modern stuff at local retro stores is likely limited.

There's a big difference in creating a customer-led series of solution and investor-led series of solutions. I bet it's primarily the latter and they're trying to wring out every last penny before the entire house of cards implodes. No way do they let their giant cash coffers just decay due to year over year declining sales and rotting Funkos; the executives will be cutting that cash out as much as they legally can, I bet.

Unless they get new leadership, I see contraction and consolidation to continue with maybe a few more erratic spasms to follow some stupid trend, and then a sell off, if at all possible.

Been hearing people proclain GS shutterung for well over a decade and yet here we are.....I don't know the path they need to follow in order to continue. I agree with many, that when you walk into a store now there is so much "fluff" and video games seem to be a second thought. I am sure with any new console there will be a slight bump in sales, but Target, WalMart, Best Buy etc all get into that area now.

Way way back I recall Funcoland (in Wis) would offer twice the amount of you used your trades to in-store credit...course they were bought out by GS eventually (that store is still open on 74th and Homes for those of you in the area). I think par tof the issue is that there is a general narrative out there that it is buyer beware when you purchase a game from GS (new or used). Personally I will take a %5 discount via Target over purchasing something from GS new and when it comes to price I generally use Amazon.

Even when GS has a decent price on something you (well me I guess) can not find it locally and I am not about to pay $6.99 in shipping.

But, like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, GS will find a way

Traded in my launch PS5 for $330 trade credit, not as good as the $400+ back in Oct but I doubt we'll ever see those trade values again. Series X is getting $360 (with pro) for now if yours is collecting dust.

Picked up MvC PS5 ($30) and Metaphor Refantazio ($45) as well and was able to use $5 monthly on Metaphor, pretty good price and if I finish in a few months hopefully trade values on both hold up.

I grabbed two copies of Tales of Graces F Remastered today. I preordered the PS5 version with credit I got from trading in some games last month, used my $5 off to get Switch version across town because nobody got that in stock.

The current trade promo of +20% on consoles seems pretty good. Does anyone know if the 20% stacks with Pro 10%?

Xbox series X is $300 base so is it $360 or $390 with promo+pro?

This is what I got from the event today. Stickers, a coloring book and some patches. It was just a table with a little television on it. There was also an extra switch in handheld mode only. I played co-op with pro controllers donkey Kong country returns HD. Not what I expected but I'm still glad I went.

I normally just get the Pokemon booster cards with the monthly $5 pro credit but apparently there all gone because of another craze that is going on. What are people using the $5 on now?

marvel v capcom collection is down to $30 from $50 and should be relatively easy to find in store, i think the launch editions also come with a mini comic book inside. switch or PS4/ps5

metaphor refantazio was what i used my $5 on, its down to $45 from $70 brings it down to $40 with monthly, which is a pretty good price for a game recently out, has won a bunch of GOTY awards, and should trade in for a decent value by the time you finish the game in a few months/weeks.

My local GameStop is a bigger one even though the retro game section is ok but hasn’t added much for a long time, but they now have a section in glass case of hobby sports card boxes. Not sure how many coming in to buy a $600 hobby box at GameStop. Wish they would be more games and less hodgepodge of everything.

To be fair, some of those stores def needed to be closed. I can’t speak for other areas but there was no reason to have 3 stores in a 3 mile stretch on the same road near me.
I miss the days of having a GS in the mall, a GS across the street from the mall and a GS a block away in another plaza.

I'm honestly GLAD they axed GSs in malls...I would have to look for parking for 5mins, walk for another 5mins to the store all the while trying to avoid snake oil sales(wo)men along the way, get disappointed EVERY single time from the lack of worthwhile finds, walk back for yet another 5mins while trying to avoid aforementioned snake oil sales(wo)men. Mall trips can take up to half an hour whereas dedicated stores no more than 10mins.

Out of all the reasons to close a store, I can't imagine stopping flipping was high on their list lol

They already mostly accomplished shutting that down anyhow by being quicker with adjusting the trade values
Perhaps, perhaps not; hence, "part of the plan" amongst many others. Regardless of what you think they think, the reality is is that they have now detered you from flipping as you have just already admitted.

Buying broken controller lots and aiming for a 30% or better return overall will always be worth driving to a GameStop, their refurbishment fees are very minor if you can get the right price

wait what? did the cashier mess up the numbers?
Returned everything at normal price and not at the pro price or the double pro discount, which would be the price I paid. Did not try to look up what I paid or how I paid, just scanned everything and said swipe your card. Also used a $5 cert and ended up just getting that amount refunded to my credit card as well. Hopefully I don't get banned.
