Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Back then years ago, I overheard an employee saying people would get gift receipts with their Buy2get1 free promo. They would bring in gift receipts with the 2 games they bought and keep the free game. It was an endless loophole of return and repurchasing with free games.

Nowadays if you do the Buy2get1 promo, it's tied directly to your account. If you return the free game you get $00.00 credited back, as they can look up the purchase price originally paid.

It was a headache, as only a few of the ASM actually knew how to look up the original purchase price from the gift receipts.

Returned everything at normal price and not at the pro price or the double pro discount, which would be the price I paid. Did not try to look up what I paid or how I paid, just scanned everything and said swipe your card. Also used a $5 cert and ended up just getting that amount refunded to my credit card as well. Hopefully I don't get banned.
Low skilled retail employee. It’s a feature not a bug.

I'm honestly GLAD they axed GSs in malls...I would have to look for parking for 5mins, walk for another 5mins to the store all the while trying to avoid snake oil sales(wo)men along the way, get disappointed EVERY single time from the lack of worthwhile finds, walk back for yet another 5mins while trying to avoid aforementioned snake oil sales(wo)men. Mall trips can take up to half an hour whereas dedicated stores no more than 10mins.
I miss the ones in the malls. It was literally one of the only reasons I would walk into a mall. Almost always disappointed. Course I still think that any worthwhile trade-in gets scooped up by the GS employees.

And I have read the comments about MvC. Price seems still too high for me. Then again with 99% of fighting games, I play for about 10 minutes and then get bored and wonder why I bought them to begin with (similar to any "retro" collection game I've purchased....starts eyeing the Atari 7800+:ROFLMAO:)

Did I miss something or did Dynasty Warriors Origins not get a full release? Can't seem to find it in stock in any GS stores or even at any Targets.

Was it considered a niche release?

No idea, mine came the other day. Pre-order from Target in one of their spend $90 can instant 20 reward offers.

None of the Target stores have it by me (but can order for shipping), also Best buy has pick-up only (none of the stores by me have it) and Amazon says order today to get Feb 5th - 13th.....very odd

Any game that's not first-party Nintendo or Sony, Call of Duty, Spiderman, etc., is going to be niche, especially as physical game sales continue to decline. If you want it, you might as well preorder it and make some GS employee happy that they'll be able to buy food this week.
I only pre-order from Target. Might have to wait a little after release day, but can usually bundle with some odd discount/savings they have plus the 5% using red card.

For me, I do not see the point of GS. I don't belong to their Pro-Rewards, I do not trade-in games (not since late ps4 lifespan), and when I check onlne the stores do not have anything in-stock that I can't get from Amazon within 1 to 2 days (and sometimes cheaper).

But you have to make 2 trips into the store for that. One to preorder and one to pickup. Great while there were stores within 10 minutes of you. But close a bunch down and I am not making 2 special trips out to buy a game. Yeah, I am a SAHM, but even I value my time.

I’m not a GameStop Pro member any longer and I haven’t traded in anything in the last year. I only shop if there’s a compelling B2G1, random clearance on games, or I find GameStop gift cards for 15-20% off (to spend on Nintendo hardware or ModRetro).

Pro member here, and I have better odds of finding deals on OfferUp every other day. Oh, and eBay ofc!

Even then, B2G1 sales are required to be done in-store for inventory purposes, if you're a smart customer.

Anyone able to confirm the Xbox series X is still getting $360 total trade in with Pro today?

I saw it's still mentioned on the GS website, was just hoping to confirm before disconnecting and packing everything up.

Dunno about Xbox, but I traded in my PS5 original today for $330.

Seems like they were getting a few console trades today, so I wouldn't be surprised if the TIV's dropped soon

Gamestop is so depressing these days. Their preowned prices are ridiculous and whenever I walk into a store the selection of games is so tiny. They barely carry new games and it seems like hardly anyone is trading in games to them anymore. Went to a local used shop and found Smash Ultimate and Metroid Dread CIB for $30 each.

only the b2g1 sales are good to pick up preowned games

Did GS return policy change recently on new unopened games? An ASM quoted me that it's no longer 30 says for unopened video games, but the standard 15 day for both PRO and non-PRO members now.

I'm assuming if opened defective new or defective used fall into the same return window?

He could’ve been talking out of his ass. Online the terms still say 30 days for unopened if you have Pro.

Fact or fiction: GameStop doesn't price match anymore?

---------

I ask as that's what I was told today, when I wanted to price match something from Best Buy.

If so that's complete BS, as last year they used that in their sales pitch when I renewed my PUR Pro subscription.

I’m not sure. my local store has a new manager who seems super strict. He claims no more price matching. The old manager did it without issue. So it’s either them or a new policy in 2025.

No more price matching when I asked 2 weeks ago (Bay Area, CA).

Yes price match was suspended around the holidays and then fully killed off about 3 weeks ago.

Well that sucks. Thanks for confirming though.

I'm not real sure what I'm going to use my $5 coupon on, as there weren't even any $5 Pokemon packs either.

They're essentially worthless each time I've gotten them, but better to use the $5 coupon than lose it if I'm passing by a store.

Depends on the target of price-matching.

Outside of GS: no.
From GS app/site: yes.

Actually, I recently found a Nintendo Switch copy of V-Rally 4 in a location for $19.99 and remembered it was listed quite cheap online for like $5.99 or something. I took it to the front and the employees said they couldn't price match, showed them their website and they said the district manager said they can't even price match their website lol

I could understand if it was like an online only promo or something but that's been the base list price for awhile now.

Kind of a circus.

And you told them that you're a Pro member too right?

Yea I didn't want to say anything because it's been a few months but I also was told no in the past when I asked if they can at least price match their own website.

Gamestop is just weird like that

The directive from corporate is to not price match at all even the website and that they will "work to have more price parity between in-store and online". If someone price matches the website for you that's awesome, but it is against the new policy and they could get written up or worse.

I was thinking about this looking at my ps2 collection earlier - I miss the bins. I miss digging through bins of hundreds of games. Gamestop just doesnt really have games anymore in store. Its such a small percentage of space. Insane strategy IMO.

They'd rather not sell either item vs clearing 1 of them out of the physical location? Yikes.

I vividly remember going into ToysRUs with my mom and picking out FFIV GBA brand new sealed from the bargain bin. This was before I got into the series.

I wonder what the reason for the stores having so few games. Is it because digital sales make up such a large percentage now that there just aren't that many physical copies out there to even be traded back in?

The rise of digital on consoles makes no sense to me. It is literally the only advantage consoles have over PC at this point. People are actually setting money on fire by purchasing a digital copy over physical on console unless it's something dirt cheap under $10.

What’s the best price to sell SWOLEDS at now? I have a few to get rid of. I’m guessing non GameStop is the way to go…and how about best game trade back value for the current $24.99 sale

it’s getting to the point that the people that are buying physical are collecting and are not going to trade the games back in. They are keeping them.

And GameStop gives a pittance for what gets traded in. You can get away with that when you are the only game in town. Not so much when anybody can go on eBay, OfferUp, Facebook marketplace, etc and easily get more.

And let’s not forget people just wanting to avoid the GameStop ‘experience.’ Nobody wants to get harassed to buy Pro, get a warranty, or put down money for a preorder every time they go in. Heck, I bet it takes only one sneaky slipped in warranty and many people say ‘fuck it I’m never going in there again.’

I forgot to write down my Pro code before using it in store. Anywhere I can find the code so I can double dip for an online order? They used to send emails with the code but I don't think I've seen one in years.
