WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 OUT NOW!!!

Picked it up at lunch. $1 off with McDonalds money. Whoop-de-fucking-do. Left my $5 one on my dresser at home.

::Chris Farley voice:: GOD! SO STUPID ARGH.

And so my yearly decent into Smackdown begins. Great load times. I love achievements, 3 so far, doing shit i do anyway with CAWS. Awesome.

Too bad all my other games will suffer now.

And I love ripping off the Nitro / paparazzi entrance :)

Wait--great load times?? That was my biggest reservation about this game. Goddamn it, now I gotta go buy it. /wallet cries

So the load times are faster than the demo? Not that it'd take much... How much faster/total time?

IDK just feels fast to me. Maybe thats after 7 years on playstation though. Only played the demo on the first couple of days, so i dont recall.

Anyway, back to it!! :joystick:

Damn Season mode is rather unforgiving when using a CAW. First match against the Big Show? Damn.

something strange i noticed.. entrances are not in dolby digital ...wtf... is it just me?

wait just got into a match and still no sound coming from rear channels... wtf!!!!!

I hate the audio levels on the entrances. The music sounds like it's being played seperately and overdubbed, the ring announcer is way too loud, and the crowd is too quiet. Just minor nitpicks though.

Not a bad game, but that control still pisses me off. Too many reversals. I did turn it down a notch but it's not much better, I may have to tweak it further.

How the hell do you irish whip someone when using the Type C control setting?

Edit: I figured it out. For anyone that wants to know, you press and hold B+Y.

i hate when they dont take advantage of the hardware..i was hopin for much better digital sound ...

my quest to take the boogeyman to title land begins~!
Anyone else having problems wrestling with CAW's online, namely private sessions?
Just got beat by Scorch, no real problems there, very minor lag that didn't affect play.

And LMAO at the rap song that plays sometimes on the menu where the guy does the entire Clubber Lang speech from Rocky III.

If you pretend that the broken A.I. in this game is just your "usual bad WWE booking" it's almost palatable.

When is THQ going to realize it is NOT FUN or "an entertaining challenge" to be forced to fight two people at once, or be forced to have an A.I. controlled partner?

A friend & I were trying to play online with are CAWs. We are playing player matches, with caws on. Then get to screen when you pick your wrestler and the caws don't show up.

Ok, that may be a factor then, we were both using default wrestlers.

It would rule if you could make a reasonable Hassan since his music is in there.

and boogeyman captures the world title!!!!

also strange thx mistake... the stable of daivari and khali come out to mark henrys music.. lol i found out while they came out lol

i dont see hassans music,, only khalis

are the veins in Mileena's titties turning anyone off? everytime the loading screen hits with her I have to turn away from the screen or I just start staring and wondering why they could not airbrush that shit.

Well, that and the fact that she looks like a man besides the tits. I'm half-expecting to see a set of balls fall out one of these times she does her legs-spread entrance.

Awesome, awesome, awesome storyline development:

Johnny Nitro is going to take The Undertaker under his wing and show him not only how to be a superstar, but show him how to have STYLE and look like a STAR. Undertaker's reaction to this was to just shrug happily and follow him to the back.

I made my wrestler look like me. When I get to the ring I do melina split. Its just so funny to see this 400lb fat wrestler in work boots do the splits into the ring. I laugh everytime.

Personally, I'd be crying if a 400lbs wrestler looked like me... :whistle2:#

Thats why you are who you are, and I am me. I'm happy with myself. And the me thats happy with myself doesn't care what some skinny fuck in Minnesota thinks. :)

Hmm, well based on reviews, it seems like a lot of issues with the past games are still prevalent in this one. However, just to get a Smackdown game on LIVE may be worth the price of admission alone! I was pulling my hair out over the horrible PS2 online service with the past two games... anyone who spent time online with those games will know what I'm talking about. I'd be chatting on AIM with someone trying to coordinate a match, and it still would take us around 10 minutes to find each other because of the fucked-up lobby system. And I was CONSTANTLY getting booted offline for no good reason. Using XBL will be a breath of fresh air!

Haven't played online yet, but story mode seems greatly improved over last years, while GM mode has gotten more complicated (that's good & bad).

My main graphical problem lies in the titles. All of the lower card ones look fine and dandy, but they seriously screwed up the world and wwe titles. Otherwise, the game looks phoneminal.
Scored this *used* today for $51 something after Edge card and taxes.
Haha, holy shit, that was fast.

I'd love to know why the person traded it in already.

I'll snag this tonight when I can get a worker friend to use their generous discount and get it for me.

Bought it at TRU (exchanged my B2G1 Saints Row for it, no questions asked and paid the difference). Haven't played it yet, but if we're serious about a Cheap Ass fed, I'm in like Jerry Flynn.

Cheap Ass Championship Wrestling. Saving cash and kicking ass.

We have two used copies of Call of Duty 3 (360) over at my Gamestop.

I'm totally up for a CAG fed soon. Might just start up a Torney to crown a CAG Heavyweight Champion.
Anyone think the graphics leave a little something to be desired?
I agree. The character models and arena look tight, but everything else looks last-gen and/or rushed (the titles, for instance).

Because chances are it was primiarily built for the ps2 and ported over... they probably had enough time to make the wrestlers and arena look better and cut corners on everything else.
So... load times...?
They are not great, but nothing like they were in the past. Until they figure out that they should stream the game while intro's load I don't see them getting too much better.

Nothing like Smackdown on the PS2. They are more than bearable is the best way to put it (though it still does load a lot).

Is anyone going to be up for a game or two tonight? Seems like everyone is playing Gears of War lately.

I really want to get into Gears but between Tony Hawk and Smackdown, two franchises I've played for years, I just can't get back into Gears right now

I was thinking about ebaying it, but I'll give it a chance. Really, all it would take for me to be more impressed with this game are fewer loading screens. Backing out of a menu brings up a load screen? O..k...just eliminate the fucking character models and put up pictures of them on the matchup screen. Then the game doesn't have to load the characters into memory just so you can press start to begin. Some AI tweaking would be nice too. Default AI settings should not be reversing you almost every time you do a strong grapple.

Uber annoyance that isn't really "broken" but just not well thought out: targeting. Auto doesn't always work, and manual makes you cycle through the referee.

Yea, that reversal thing is always a pain, but I usually turn the slider all the way down or close to it.
Anyone think the graphics leave a little something to be desired?
The character models don't have any more polygons than the PS2 (or they don't look like it); they look like they have high-resolution textures that make them look better.

IIRC, this is fairly enough considerable as a "port" of the PS2 version; the crowd looks more realistic and fleshed out, but the in-game graphics aren't a vast improvement over the PS2.

Still, it looks good (except for the clipping when, say, Kurt Angle does a rear naked choke on Viscera) overall; I can't deal with some moves, like Big Show backflipping in midair out of a belly-to-back suplex. That's just crap, just like the ease with which Angle suplexes TBS is crap.

The commentary has gotten redundant on me, and I've only had 3-4 matches. I may just turn it off altogether.

CAW looks cool, but the lack of custom themes is still severely disappointing.

Career mode is interesting so far; I'm still a man, for what that's worth.

Shall we start up a CAG league? I can make a custom CAG belt and organize a tournament for the title. First, I'd like everyone to solicit three things:

1) The character you'd like to play as (and an alternate)
2) How good you think you are at SvR on a scale of 1-10
3) Do you prefer having each wrestler only be picked once, or anyone can choose any wrestler, and select their alternate during same-wrestler matchups?

I can assign handicaps that way and build a tournament around that.

Just got mine today from FamilyVideo, feel free to add me if anyone wants to play. Not sure how much I'll be playing today though, got a math test to study for tomorrow.

OK, got it tonight, I'm gonna do a little single player tonight because I have two tests to cram for but I will be on this weekend a ton, so anybody who isn't getting a Wii or a PS3 and wants / has time to play, hit me up.

Man, kinda pissed Cena dosen't throw his hat and shirt into the audience... but the gameplay is still awesome, I love this new version of Smackdown.

Wait, did they get rid of the pre-match moves you could do? I remember you had to hit the analog stick as the two wrestler's were facing each other down or something.

Wtf, only three alternate costumes in the entire game?

Ok, is there also any way to make them get up FASTER? It take my guy 5 minutes to get up and during that time the AI nails him with 300 on the ground moves.

fuck, I'm close to selling this game already, this shit is ridiculous, no matter what buttons I push the dude won't get off the fucking mat, and I lose every one of matches because the computer can just keep hitting me and hitting me and hitting me unless I get lucky with a reversel.

Yeah. That shit is annoying.

It doesn't help when they string a ton of moves together, while you're lying on the mat. Stomp, submission, stomp, submissions, drag, stomp, submission, stomp, etc.

Yea, I mean, it says push the buttons but all my person does is just squirm more, and it seems the window is so incredibly small to do a reversal while you're on the mat.

I even turned the damn reversals for the A.I almost all the way down and the A.I is STILL reversing everything... I get these games to ya know, mimic what I see on television, and I've never seen a WWE match were one guy is on the mat for 5 minutes and then gets everything reversed over and over and over.

But yea, what you described is exactly what pissed me off, but it's more like this -

Stomp, submission, stomp, stomp, submission, when you finally get up you get hit in the face with a finisher, pinfall, match over.
