John Cena's wrestling topic

Those pictures are pretty sick other Zen. Somehow I missed how you were actually there witnessing this live. That's pretty crazy. The only time I've ever seen someone busted open unintentionally live and real close, was at a WWE house show years ago. Jeff Hardy tagged Chris Benoit with a whisper in the wind. As soon as Jeff's boot made contact with Benoit's face blood started trickling out. Wasn't even half as bad as those pics you had, and I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not been sitting in the 3rd row. Oh how I miss the days of getting comp tickets to WWE shows.
I'd like to see Flair win the gold belt that *HE* made famous from Edge, and carry it into Wrestlemania.
I would hope any long-term wrestling fan would (save for Foley perhaps) would like to see this. Probably not a scenario WWE is even considering, but that would be a good way to end Flair's career. Plus, Edge could use the rub for being the guy to end Flair's career. Maybe distract from the "Hey that's the guy that fucked Lita" thing he still has going, at least to me.

Yep, this is WWE, they don't know how to end careers on a good note. The last we'll see of him is either him being inducted in the HOF or getting crushed by some mid-card guy at WM.

In their defense most wrestlers don't actually retire when they say they're going to. I don't know how many "retirement" matches Savage has lost over the years. Geez, I can recall Savage losing a "loser retires" match to Warrior at WM7, and then winning the title at WM8, while Warrior was made his big return later in the night. One retirement I do recall WWE doing very well was Trish Stratus'. Flair is obviously special, hopefully they do his career justice with how he goes out.

I still think Matt Hardy should be given the rub tonight. Not necessarily winning the belt but getting the shot against Edge.

If it's Ring of Honor in NYC, I'm there. I went to every single ROH show in NYC in 2007. Six of them all together and they're always fantastic shows. I'll be seeing Nigel vs. Dragon live next Saturday in NYC at the 6th Year Anniversary and I'm incredibly hyped for it knowing that it'll be the best match I'll probably see for at least the next 6 months. The next PPV is being taped in Philly, which I have high hopes for since it was that fantastic crowd that made Dragon/Nigel at Driven as good as it was. I'm trying to get a ride down there but it doesn't look like it'll be happening. Oh well.

It's always something else to see someone busted open live. The first ROH show I went to, CM Punk was in a dog collar match with Jimmy Rave and Punk's face was just all blood red with a pair of white eyeballs looking out at you. It was crazy.

I don't agree that they're done "right" in that regard. The last person I know to win a world title in their retirement match was Verne Gagne.

I've always thought retirement matches were used to give someone a "rub"... when you leave, you're supposed to do it on your back.

Not to say I MINDED Trish's retirement match so much, cause she's hot. :)

Interesting thing of note happened on the RoH boards tonight. The company is giving away free tickets to their Deer Park show, which I'm not really aware of happening before. I called them out in the message board thread that the only reason they were giving away tickets is because they weren't selling.

My post ended up being deleted. Take it for what's worth. Probably not much.

Going for that 2-time, 2-time ban, huh?:D
Going for that 2-time, 2-time ban, huh?:D
I'm working on it. ;)

The RoH hardcore don't seem anymore full up on me this time around if you know what I'm saying. They've taken offense at my claiming Claudio is overrated, that Final Battle 2007 served no purpose (both title changes at that event have been negated a month and a half later), and that notion that the company can learn something from the WWE.

They really didn't like the last one. :)

I was also messing around with their heads last night. Before the FIP results came in from last night's show, I wrote a post saying that Roderick Strong had won the FIP championship. Half an hour later I revealed that I was lying. They weren't happy about that either. Turns out that Strong did end up winning the FIP championship so it all worked out.

And an argument got started over my post count. That shit was just mesmerizing.

A very simple ROH music video I made. I simply took the crappy Doomsday song and overdubbed it with the music from Gladiation.

Now... THAT..... is how you SHOCK people.

Right after Edge vs Rey ended with Edge winning The Big Show made his return. He talked about how he would take on ANY champ. He then grabbed Rey and started to diss Floyd Mayweather. Big Show then dragged Rey into the ring and was about to choakslam him when Floyd jumped in and proceeded to have a staredown with Big Show. Big Show shoved Floyd. Floyd then knocked Big Show in the face then ran out of the ring with Big Show chasing after him. Shane McMahon cut off Big Show during the chase into the crowd.

You've got to be shitting me.

Orton got a deliberate disqualification? Wow. For $40, you, too, can watch a remake of a classic WCW Clash of the Champions title match.

EDIT: On that note, Black Scorpion wins the Raw Elimination Chamber. Speaking of which, I'm sure that the H's were in the back discussing how the crowd would get "worn out" by two EC matches so close together, and as a result, it's important to have one of them on the card last in order to spread them out as much as possible - even if that means main eventing over EVERY OTHER TITLE MATCH.

 It must be run like the fuckin' People's Temple in the WWE, the way the folks in there can't figure out how paperthin some of these "booking decisions" are.

Orton slapped the ref to get DQed. The match however was great outside of that. Then again.... Orton retaining in any means over Cena is a win right there.
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!!!!!

Orton retains.

Zen why are you happy? All this means is that they are going to wait until Wrestlemania to put the belt back on Cena unless Cena injures himself again which is a strong possiblity.

I'm happy that at this moment Cena is not champion. I'm also happy that there were dueling chants for Orton and Cena.

I'll be pissed at Wrestlemania when Cena wins the belt.

How can Cena win the belt at Wrestlemania if he already used his title shot, and isn't in the Elimination Chamber match?
I'm happy that at this moment Cena is not champion. I'm also happy that there were dueling chants for Orton and Cena.

Why? It's like being pissed the sun is coming up: you know it's going to happen, you know it's unavoidable, and you know there's nothing you can do about it.

The best reaction is to take a step back, meditate on it for a moment, and realize your complete inability to change anything - and that that shouldn't lead to any notion of distress.

Orton/H/Cena? I'm just not interested in any of them. Frankly, I'm more amused by the things that are so obvious (Triple H's ego making the Raw EC match last) than I am bothered by them anymore.

EDIT: lmz, my guess is they'll make up some hackneyed excuse that since Orton deliberately disqualified himself, Cena will be involved in the WM match.

 I guess we're all just hoping it'll rain that day?

So, Show is back and the Champ ISN'T here (yet)? Sounds like they actually threw in some surprises after all.

I'm guessing with the Big Show challenge for any champion he'll be going back to ECW as all the other title stories are pretty well taken care of...

Ah... and so we have our answer as to why Show decided to come back. I had been wondering what his incentive was, so it's nice to finally know.

Gee, amatuer boxer that won't go anywhere, or WWE contract where he gets to face Mayweather... that's a tough one. ;)

So, does this mean we're getting Show/Mayweather at Mania? I just hope it goes better than Gunn/Butterbean.

Just got back from the bar and how about that, I went perfect in my winner predictions for NWO. Then again, who didn't? Although, I pretty much called the actual way the matches ended too, thank you, thank you. The only thing I was off on was the order of the elimination chambers a bit, but swap the names Jeff Hardy and HBK in my predictions, and they're almost spot on.

I have more to add, but sadly I was sitting by the Marlboro Man at the bar, and must go wash the smoke out of my skin. To be continued...

Much better... I know it's a bar, but good God.

So, my girlfriend, another friend and myself headed out to a local bar to catch the ppv tonight, got there, and went to the section that normally shows ppvs there... nothing doin' ruh roh. Ah, moved over to the other side of the bar, good news.

We find a seat, and set up, get a few beers and burgers and were ready to go. The bar filled up pretty good, guess wrestling is still popular amongst cheapasses who don't want to pay at home.

The show kicks off, Chavo vs CM Punk... Punk slightly favored in the bar, but pretty even. It was about that time that the guy at the table next to us lit up his first cigarette... "well it's a bar" I thought, naturally the pudgy fucker was a chain smoker and our table was catching the smoke the whole night on. Annoying.

Anyhow, the whole bar was pretty hot for the whole show, guys getting way overly excited. Which in a way is very fun, but again makes me wonder why I like this shit so much. I can't identify with 90%+ of these people, as Myke and I have discussed before, I just don't get what draws me to this. How can I be like them? The oddest part is this is Canton freakin' Michigan, not some podunk town in Arkansas. Where do these hillbillies come from? I went on about this doofus at the SD show I took my girlfriend to, in a wrestling topic awhile ago. Apparently he lives in the area, cuz there he was. Sadly not wearing his spinner belt, but being just as loud and obnoxious, wearing his HHH shirt and talking up his wrestling school of course. The guy looks to be in his late 30's early 40's, and I just... don't... get... it.

Sadly weird-HHH wannabe guy was trumped tonight by a 40+ year old guy, decked out in his Cena shirt, Cena hat, and either he or the child with him had a toy Cena spinner belt. Wow, someone call child protective services. He got all excited for Cena's entrance, attempting to start a "Cena chant" that was greeted by 60% or more of the bar chanting Cena sucks... hello Twilight Zone, oh well at least it sat Cena-man down. Still, the asshole literally waved his hand in front of his face as Cena did and went through the motions with Cena as he did the 5-knuckle shuffle. He didn't do this standing up to taunt the bar... no, as best as I could tell he did this just for himself and Cena. I turned to my friend and we both were embarassed to be wrestling fans in that moment.

Fortunately, it was a bar, and with a bar comes beer! So, I was able to tolerate Cena-guy, HHH-guy (who also liked Cena) and the Marlboro Man. Next time I'm bringing my Goldust mask that I got years ago off WWE.com clearance for a buck.

Wow just great. Undertaker is number one contender. How fuckin BORING is that. Geez. Everyone complains about how bad Cena is but Taker is worse IMO. Same boring ass entrance, same boring ass matches, same boring ass superman routine. Edge is also a terrible champion. Completely unentertaining.

I'm glad to see Big Show back. The only way they should use him is as a heel. He is awsome as the bad guy. I hope they use him right. He looks great and his agility seems to have improved. He got out of the ring pretty quick. I can't wait to see where they go with him.

Everyone seems to be creaming their pants because Cena didn't win. The match sucked, and if I was in the crowd I would be pissed off about that shitty ending.

CM Punk does not approve of your choice of locale to watch the PPV.

Big Show vs. a boxer? Oh goody, because this type of thing worked so well last time against Akebono.

Damn you, life-sustaining celestial body!!!

NWO results look solid. Yeah, everything outside Big Show returning to feud with Mayweather was predictable, but it still seemed like an watchable show.

I liked how they really pushed Hardy in the EC (even though he didn't win it). It's so surreal that seven years ago HHH was doing everything he could to bury Jeff's singles career, and now he's honestly trying to make him.

Personally, I hope Jeff wins MITB3, heads to ECW, takes the strap off Chavo and just dominates that brand for a year or so before heading to SD! or Raw and winning the Heavyweight strap.

Like taking a big ole dump? Only this time, I get to hold it until Wrestlemania where it'll all splutter out at once and I'll have to flush twice to get it all to go down.

Actually... that's exactly what it's like.

Windex.

ECW is for losers and projects, why would Jeff go there when he's already main eventing Raw? This is MITB4 by the by.

QFT.

That Mayweather shit was bold, I can't believe he actually nailed Show like that. What was he thinking? Let's say they do work a program at WM, what's to stop Show from breaking character and grinding that little shit into the mat for real? Put it this way, if I were that big and some cocky dumbfuck took liberties at me and broke my nose, he'd be in a coma.

Even if they do actually box, I fail to see how Mayweather's conditioning and speed is going to make up for the fact that he's about 2 feet shorter. One good punch and the fight is over, but I actually hope Show just knocks him over and sits on him until he breaks.

My money is on Mayweather pussing out after tonight's events.

Well, in my fairytale version of ECW, they would would actually book the brand like it matters, and have Jeff Hardy as the main attraction. This way ECW & Jeff both come off looking legit; ECW looks like something more than just another version of Sunday Night Heat (and the ECW title becomes more than the new Euro Title) and Jeff looks like a legit Heavyweight champ when he goes the SD! or Raw.

I had completely forgot about MITB2

Oh, playing the fantasy game now, eh? Well that changes things. He's unlikely to move off of Raw though, apparently the H's has decided Jeff will be his successor. Really unexpected choice. Although, Jeff was pegged as "the next" HBK years ago.

I had completely forgot about MITB2

Bobby Lashley has that effect on people.

Something weird popped up into our release list a week or so ago. "WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 08: Superstar Edition", scheduled for the end of March, for 29.99. I saw nothing on the net about it, nothing at Gamestop's site about it.. no idea what the hell it is, i'll see if I can find out more information.

//edit: This listing was for PS2, and only PS2.
