Welcome to the Official CAG Gamerush/Blockbuster video game deal thread.

First and foremost, please check out the
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.

Reported Trade-In Prices
Halo 3 is $44.99 at GR. As of yesterday it traded for 35 at GS/EB. Throw in the extra 30% trade in coupon and you can get 35 + 10.50 = 45.50 at GS/EB. You take a slight loss after tax but GS/EB credit is more valuable than GR credit imo.
I read the other thread and it looks like the edge card works so that's 10% more in trade in value therefore you can make a $5 profit as well. Anybody know how many copies you can trade at once of Halo 3?

Using the Edge + Coupon is not always 100%. Some managers wont allow it. Your best bet is to hand them the edge card then hand them the coupon. That usually works for me.

I got $49 for my Halo 3 copy yesterday and I may flip a couple more copies before that 30% coupon expires.

At EB/GS trading in more than 1 copy of a game at a time is YMMV. If you want to try more than that say that you are trading in games for your cousins who are too young to drive or have their own trade account. I use that line at GR all the time.

Figured out a way to actually get a bit more cash at EB/GS for those looking to convert. LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy for GameCube is $9.99 at GR and trades for $10 at EB, according to their website.

So that would make it $13 with the 30% coupon and $14 with EDGE. Not incredible but definately good for those wanting to convert credit.

That's LEGO Star Wars you're talking about, right?
That's LEGO Star Wars you're talking about, right?
Yes, sorry. Not sure how I left that off.

Hour of Victory: $32

I ended up going to two Blockbusters to trade the two HOVs I got from Amazon in the mail today. Seeing $20 magically turn into $64 in trade credit almost brought a tear to my eye. . .

:ps2:
Madden 04 - $.50
Madden 05 Collector's - $1.25 (and eligible for bonus, woot!)
Katamari Damacy - $7 (trades for $9 at GS now)

Wow it worked. Purchased 2 copies of HALO 3 for $96.95 from GR/BB and traded them to EB/GS for $98 (40% coupon and edge card) for 1.05 profit not to mention credit EB/GS better then GR/BB.

Meh, somebody cleaned out the Halo 3s at my GameRushes. There had been quite a few used copies a week ago. I guess I'm stuck with using my credit at GameRush.

Also, isn't Resident Evil 4 Wii $29.99 universally? I was quoted $49.99 for a new copy tonight at GR.
Yes, it is $29.99 universally: http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=230095

It's actually $5 cheaper there. You're getting shortchanged.
That's what I thought. :bomb:

I recommend giving them the info that it's actually cheaper everywhere else and get an override.

That'd be great, but it doesn't work at GameRush. No price overrides ever. I'm just going to have to keep checking back every week until they lower the price.

Anyone know value of Virtua Tennis 3 (PS3)? Its only $19.99 at GS if it trades in for $35, not a bad flipper.

EDIT: Bah, the Xbox 360 version is only $19. So probably not much hope.

Just moved all but $8 of my GR credit to GS/EB, and purchased this:

I happen to be near a few of the GS/EBs that are currently running the extra %50 on trades (stackable with Edge). Despite the fact that GS sells used copies of Halo 3 for $54.99, I was able to trade in three of them for $56 each. One store even let me trade in two at one time (highly YMMV). I also got lucky because one GS had the first party monitor cables mispriced for $14.99 instead of the usual $19.99 (unless things have changed recently). I finally traded in my copy using the extra %30 (didn't want to trade in 4 copies of Halo 3 between two stores). Needless to say, I think I'm done messing around with GR credit for a little while. It's not everyday that you can actually convert GR credit into (more) GS/EB credit, and I have a feeling that GS corperate is beginning to get the idea. So without further ado, if you've got GR credit and your BB/GR has Halo 3, what are you waiting for?

Oh, and almost forgot to add; Happy Feet gets $23 from BB/GR.
Wii Zappers came in today, priced at $19.99. I also saw Ghost Squad for the Wii, but it was priced at $49.99. :bomb:
you should ask and check. that shouldnt be.

This afternoon, I picked up Unreal Championship 2, Tecmo Arcade Classics, Sid Meier's Pirates & Jade Empire used for less than $25 total

EDIT: I also saw two copies of Halo 3 for (I think) $44.99

So you bought 6 PSPs???

You think we haven't seen one before?

No, I didn't buy six of them. The first two pics are comparison shots between the phat and the slim, and the bottom two pics are of the same console. I know it probably belongs in the bragging rights forum, but I thought that people should really get the idea that turning GR credit into GS credit is a great idea.
you should ask and check. that shouldnt be.
The clerk scanned it to check the price, since it didn't have a price sticker on it yet (I spotted it in a stack of new arrivals on the counter). Ditto for Resident Evil 4 Wii, it also scanned at $49.99. This was at two different locations.

Well, I did get a Wii Zapper today....I was just saying they were sold out at Best Buy and other local stores before today. Now to shoot some Link ;)

I think maybe GR accidentally has the price for Umbrella Chronicles there.

LOL I didn't look that closely I just thought you took 6 pictures of the same system because you was ever so pround of it. ;)

Something is fishy with that RE4 Wii price I am almost certain i've seem it used for normal price at GR.

I saw RE4 used at GR marked $24.99 I believe.

hm..so i read in this thread that most gamerush stores require the cover arts.
well i just bought a bundled 360 with forza2 and marvel ultimate alliance and I really want to trade these in for CoD4. They come bundled together in one box. Do you think they'll still take this bundled box? Or would I have a better chance taking the cds out and trying to trade-in with just the 2 CDs?

I'd recommend taking in the discs seperately just keep the cover arts at home and stick the other one in some kinda case.

Personally I just grabbed another dvd case and used the instruction booklet as the cover art. It's easier than making an employee print up a new cover, and all they have to is search for it in the computer instead of scanning it.

Here's to hoping The Darkness holds up at $32. I've got $65 in credit at EB, and I'd like to combine it with the $77 I have at GR.
Is there a limit to the number of gift cards a customer can use on a single transaction??
Why would there be a limit? I think I used 4 or 5 to pay for my $500 PS3 bundle. So bust um out and watch them wonder where you got um all from.

Yeah, I made a 102% return from selling two used copies of Halo 3 back to GameStop. That leaves $30 in credit, which I'm giving away as a Christmas present.

I don't know. From reading earlier posts it seems like BB has some funky rules that pop up like you can't buy consoles with value cards.

I ask because I cashed in 3000 of my Coke Rewards pts for $300 in BB gift certificates. Only problem is it looks like I will get 20 x $15 gift cards.

If there is a limit to the number of cards you can use, it would be 20. But I've never had anyone try to use more than 10 giftcards, so I don't know.

In other news, the only price drop we had on used games this wek at our store was Carckdown (down to 24.99). Just a useless FYI.

I'm sorry if I'm being a nuisance, but could someone tell me what exactly goes on in this thread? >_> I've only skimmed through a couple pages, and it seems like people buy used games at low prices then sell them at higher prices? Is that it? If so, does anyone have advice? I want to get an Xbox 360, and I guess this would be a good way to collect some money for it...

Thanks to this thread, i took in F1 and Motorstorm for PS3 and paid an additional 4.62 cents and got a new sealed Uncharted for PS3! They gave me 30 per game credit! Blockbuster rocks!!

It's a thread for discussing all things Blockbuster/ Gamerush. Yes, there are discussions about games that can be purchased on the cheap from other stores but still have high trade values at BB. Also there's some general Q&A stuff like my question earlier about gift cards.

Figure out trade-in values for games at Blockbuster/Gamerush. Find those games cheap somehow; oftentimes used at Gamestop w/ coupon or other promo. Then trade them in to Blockbuster at a profit. You can often get twice the trade-in credit for whatever money/GS credit you put into the process.

For example, I've been buying up every used copy of Madden 2006 for 360 at my area Gamestops. After Edge card, its like $3.60 per copy but trades in to Gamerush/BB for $8. Repeat the process a bunch of times and you're golden (preferably with higher-priced items though). that's the general idea.

Traded a Hour of Victory 360 for 32 as already confirmed this week.

Wiki still has 28.50 for Over G Fighters 360, but I was quoted 25. Spent 14 after tax so I may return it. . .

A Best Buy here had Sega Rally Revo 360 for 9.99 on a manager's clearance. I only got one copy and I'm keeping it, but I was curious what the trade in for it was so add SRR to the Wiki for $35 trade value.

I haven't kept up with the thread lately. What's the deal with the Halo 3 flip to GS? Also, does the GS 30% bonus require a coupon?
